1. It is really hard to put my reaction to the book in a short paragraph of 200-300 words as there are so many things I want to talk about. Reading the book made me reflect to several others literary texts and make a connection between them. The first line of the novel says “ It was a bright cold day in April, and the clocks were striking thirteen” (Orwell) and this reminded me of the very first line of the poem The Waste Land by T.S Eliot which also opens with “April is the cruelest month, breeding, Lilacs out of the dead land”, both talk about April as an omen and something cruel like tyranny or totalitarianism.
